Everybody knows Land Rover vehicles are some of the only cars on and off the road that can deliver all-terrain performance and luxury. Oftentimes people forget that a new or used Land Rover can be used for more than recreational purposes. All across the globe, Land Rovers are put to work every day, towing, hauling, transporting and even rescuing. At least that is what happened in this story from a couple of months ago when it unfolded near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

It was a hot afternoon at a National Park in Kenya when members of the Amboseli Trust for Elephants stumbled across a young elephant calf stuck in a well with its mother frantically trying to get her baby out. Rangers arrived on the scene and drove the mother off to a safe distance before approaching the well. It took two men half-an-hour to tie a rope around the 8-month old calf. When they were done, Land Rover did the rest of the work.

Securing the rope to the bumper of their battle proven SUV, the rangers threw it in reverse and pulled the several hundred pound elephant out of the hole with ease. The mother ran back to the scene to gather up her baby before wandering off into the savanna.

There is a chance that if the park  rangers did not have 64 years of British engineering on their side, the baby elephant would not have made it out of that well. Lucky for them, and the mother elephant, they had it where it counts. And so can you.

While you may not need to rescue elephants all that often. Land Rover drivers in the Birmingham area know whether they drive a Land Rover LR2 or a Range Rover Sport, they are guaranteed performance no matter the circumstances. Schedule a Land Rover test drive online, or just stop by our showroom located at 3000 Tom Williams Way Irondale, AL. We hope to see you soon.
