If you happened to catch our previous post here at Land Rover Birmingham, you now no doubt a bit about our staple of the SUV segment, the Range Rover.

Not to be outdone, though, it's now time for the aforementioned model's sprightlier sibling -- the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport -- to take the stage.

Team up with Auto Trader UK Road Test Editor, Ivan Aistrop, for a closer look:

Beneath the bonnet of the base Range Rover Sport, a 3.0-liter V6 engine hold court with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Served up standard on the SE and HSE trims, this six-banger is boasts a beefy 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

We'd note that either entry-level trim can alternatively be had with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. Good for 254 horsepower and a gargantuan 440 pound-feet of torque, this engine is the fuel-sipper of the group. Rated at robust 25 mpg combined (22 city/29 highway), the turbodiesel is an absolute delight.
